Listening with the Heart: An Answer to Conflict — Compassionate Listening in the Middle East
Peace and Reconciliation Tours

In Israel alone, there are over 200 groups working for peaceful coexistence between Palestinians and Jews. Listening with the Heart invites you to come into this very region, so well-known for its conflicts but less well-known for its peacemakers, to learn how to be part of the process. You'll meet these activists and be empowered as a peacemaker in your own right. These visits include Compassionate Listening training as well as excursions to various parts of the country to participate in real-life peacemaking.

A sample itinerary would begin with a morning Compassionate Listening workshop.

Over the next eight days, we'll have opportunities as a group to reflect on our experiences each day. Our itinerary will typically include:

  1) Listening to people from all sides of the conflict(s) here in the Middle East. This will give us a chance to practice our deep listening skills, even when it's difficult;
2) An introduction to the work of peace and reconciliation organizations. This is not only invaluable in terms of fact-finding, but it will also provide us with incredible inspiration;

  3) Touring some of the fascinating sites! Israel is home to thousands of years of history, archeological sites, four warm seas and one of the most diverse concentrations of humanity on the planet.

Cancellations and Refunds:

Cancellations must be received (and acknowledged) in writing or by email. Cancellation policy is as follows:

  • 90 days or more:$300 will be retained;
  • 30 - 90 days: 50% of the trip cost will be retained unless you find someone to take your place.
  • less than 30 days before the start of the trip (and "no-shows"):  refunds are not possible because of nonrefundable reservations with hotels/coach companies, etc. have already been made.
  • Likewise, since the trip is a package, it is not possible to give partial refunds for unused hotel rooms, meals or other scheduled activities.

"Listening with the Heart" reserves the right to cancel a trip in the very unlikely event that the political situation on the ground is dangerous or if we do not have a minimum of 15 registrations.  In this case, your payment will be refunded less the $300 deposit and you may apply $150 to any future delegation. If you have already purchased your ticket and we have to cancel the trip for any reason,  airfare will be refunded according to the policy of the airline.

Participants are strongly encouraged to purchase travel insurance which generally includes: trip cancellation, baggage, medical and/or emergency evacuation insurance. Baggage may be lost or damaged and some medical insurance (including Medicare) will not provide coverage outside the U.S. Travel insurance is not expensive and can be obtained either from your own travel agent or online.

If you or your group would like to be a part of the change we want to see in the world, please contact Yael at: listening@cl-middleeast.org or call +972 54-534-1545.
